Pledco’s Black Diamond COB series runs at 7,680Hz — the broadcast-safe threshold that eliminates LED flicker and banding when captured by broadcast cameras, cinema cameras, DSLR and mirrorless cameras at any shutter speed and any frame rate. At 7,680Hz, a camera shooting at 1/4000s sees a fully refreshed LED display — no rolling shutter banding, no partial-frame flicker, no horizontal scan lines in the image. This makes Pledco Black Diamond the correct choice for any LED wall that will be in camera — XR virtual production volumes, broadcast studio backgrounds, live event LED captured for streaming or broadcast, TV studio LED sets and any screen-in-screen broadcast application.
Pledco’s Black Diamond COB series is engineered for XR virtual production LED volume and ICVFX (in-camera visual effects) stage applications — where the LED wall is the primary background environment, replacing green screen and post-production compositing with real-time rendered digital environments captured in-camera. An XR virtual production LED volume requires extremely high refresh rate (7,680Hz), accurate colour reproduction (REC709 / REC2020 calibrated), wide colour gamut, low blue-light emission, high uniformity (ΔE≤3) and the ability to display full real-time game engine output at 4K resolution without latency. Pledco Black Diamond at P0.9mm and P1.2mm delivers all of these requirements from a single product, a single factory and a single project team. LED volume configurations — flat back wall, curved cyc, LED ceiling tile, LED floor with public support glass — are all available as custom-engineered builds.
Pledco is one of the few LED display manufacturers that calibrates all products to international HD NTSC REC709 and REC2020 colour standards — confirmed on pledco.com/company. REC709 calibration ensures that the LED wall displays colours accurately against broadcast colour standards — critical for any production where the LED background must match the colour grading pipeline. REC2020 wide colour gamut calibration is required for high-dynamic-range (HDR) virtual production and cinema applications. Pledco’s proprietary calibration recipe uses a special camera technology for calibration — verifying panel-to-panel uniformity and colour accuracy across the full LED wall at installation. Calibration data is stored per cabinet — uniformity and colour accuracy are maintained over the product lifetime.
Pledco’s Black Diamond series uses Chip-on-Board (COB) LED technology — the premium architecture for studio and broadcast LED display applications. COB bonds LED chips directly onto the PCB without individual packaging, delivering superior contrast ratios, better colour uniformity, greater impact resistance and lower heat generation than SMD LED. Fan-free passive thermal management on P0.9mm and P1.2mm means zero noise — essential for broadcast studio and recording environments where any fan noise is unacceptable. Available pixel pitches: P0.9mm, P1.2mm, P1.5mm, P1.9mm and P2.5mm. Standard cabinet: 610mm × 343mm × 39mm, light-weight and rugged, designed as an all-in-one solution for fixed and rental deployment. Unlike chroma key green screen, an LED studio background is visible to presenters and guests in real time — improving performance, removing spill correction from post, and enabling simultaneous in-studio and remote guest integration in a unified visual frame.
