Control room led Displays
Why Pledco Control Room
Every Pledco Phoenix Series and Titan XR cabinet is equipped with two independent power supplies — Pledco’s proprietary power backup function confirmed on pledco.com. If one PSU fails, the second immediately takes the full load with zero interruption to display output. For control room and command centre environments operating 24/7, a single PSU failure on a standard LED wall causes that cabinet to go dark — unacceptable in a mission-critical operations environment. Pledco’s dual PSU design eliminates this single point of failure entirely. The monitoring system sends an immediate SMS or email notification to the service centre upon PSU failure, scheduling a maintenance call before the backup is ever stressed.
Beyond power redundancy, Pledco has developed a state-of-the-art monitoring system with a fully redundant data line — confirmed on pledco.com for the Phoenix Series. A bad data connection or hardware failure on the bus lines of a standard LED video wall results in partial or full content downtime. Pledco’s fully redundant data line ensures this cannot occur — if the primary data path fails, the secondary takes over instantly with no visible interruption to the display. This dual-path signal architecture is critical for control room LED video walls where the display is the primary decision-support tool for operators — a momentary blackout during an incident response is operationally unacceptable. Real-time per-display monitoring notifies the service centre of any data path anomaly immediately.
Pledco’s control system monitors every LED lamp and power supply on the display — confirmed on pledco.com. If a single pixel fails, the data is read out from the EEPROM and re-written to the replacement chip. After this process the brightness value is recalibrated to ensure uniformity of the entire system — providing easy and fast maintainability at pixel level. The system simultaneously records every display’s initial calibration data to avoid uneven brightness caused by LED attenuation over time. Both the updated screen brightness calibration data and the recorded baseline data ensure display uniformity is maintained across the full LED wall throughout its operational life. For a control room LED wall displaying CCTV feeds, GIS maps or operational dashboards, pixel-level uniformity is a functional requirement — not an aesthetic one.
Control room LED displays are viewed by operators for extended periods — often 8 to 12-hour shifts in a dimly lit environment. Standard LED video walls at reduced brightness lose greyscale detail and colour accuracy as they dim — producing washed-out imagery that makes fine detail hard to read. Pledco’s Phoenix Series and Titan XR Series both maintain high levels of greyscale while operating at low brightness — confirmed on pledco.com. Pledco’s advanced software, control system and calibration enables picturesque greyscale levels at reduced luminance, preserving the full tonal range of operational data, CCTV feeds and colour-coded dashboards for operators working extended shifts. The Radiant PM-1400F calibration system used by Pledco ensures wavelength difference across the display is less than 0.01nm post-calibration.
Pledco’s patented SLPRO8 control system allows users to select several colour spaces — 2K (REC709), 4K (REC2020) — or create a custom colour space using the user-friendly software interface. All confirmed on pledco.com. REC709 calibration ensures that colour-coded operational data, GIS overlays, traffic management maps and CCTV feeds are reproduced accurately against standardised colour references. The same LED batch discrete distribution is moved to PAL Mode Chroma Area through colour coordinate calibration technology — ensuring that even within a single batch, LED-to-LED colour variation is eliminated. For a control room where a red alert indicator, a green status and a blue data feed must be visually unambiguous to an operator at a glance, accurate and consistent colour reproduction across the full LED wall is operationally essential.
Pledco’s Phoenix Series has been tested, approved and certified by SGS for CA TB133 Heat Release Rate — confirmed on pledco.com. Extremely low heat generation is critical in enclosed control room environments where multiple large LED video walls, operator workstations and server infrastructure all generate heat simultaneously. The Phoenix Series uses an aluminium cabinet with an external VDC power supply and a minimal amount of plastic within the LED modules, reducing thermal mass and heat output. Fan-free operation on fine-pitch models (Black Diamond P0.9mm and P1.2mm) eliminates fan noise — essential in control room environments where audio monitoring and voice communication are operationally critical. Low heat output also reduces air conditioning load, lowering total operating cost over the system lifetime.
Pledco’s Titan XR Series offers both front and rear access — confirmed on pledco.com. Front-access maintenance means a technician can replace a module, power supply or signal card from the face of the display without shutting down the wall, moving operator furniture or accessing a rear maintenance corridor. In a 24/7 control room environment this is operationally essential — a maintenance operation that requires the display to be taken offline, or the control room to be vacated, is unacceptable. Front-access maintenance combined with dual redundant PSU and fully redundant data means a Pledco control room LED wall can be maintained during live operation with zero impact on display uptime. 15-year parts availability guaranteed from date of delivery on all Pledco control room LED products.
Pledco’s OEM and ODM programme covers custom-format control room LED video walls — non-standard cabinet dimensions, bespoke pixel pitches and custom curved configurations for circular or angled control room layouts. Every OEM/ODM control room LED project is assigned a dedicated project team from day one: a project manager, mechanical engineer, software engineer and after-sales manager. Full technical documentation is provided: mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, control system integration guide, commissioning checklist and 15-year parts availability. Pledco has delivered large-format OEM/ODM indoor LED walls for corporate headquarters and production environments in the USA, UK, Netherlands, Japan and Singapore — all confirmed in the Pledco company reference document.
